When Moses and Aaron stood before Pharaoh, they said: "Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness." Pharaoh hated God and had no intention of letting Israel go. But NOTHING was going to stop our Sovereign Lord from delivering His people. My question is, did God's people hold "A Feast In The Wilderness" unto the Lord? Spiritual Israel did. There were many Jews in National Israel who were NOT included in the eternal covenant of grace; who were NOT redeemed by the "Blood of the everlasting covenant" . They heard the Gospel, but it "did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it" (Hebrews 4:2). Those unbelieving Jews held their own feast before gods of their own imagination (Exodus 32:1-6). Like Pharaoh, they did NOT know the Lord and could NOT hold a feast unto Him. But God had His remnant, His Spiritual Israel, who, in the midst of all those who hated God, did hold "A Feast In The Wilderness" unto the Lord Jesus Christ. They knew, by faith, the "manna" that God gave them from heaven was "spiritual meat" They knew, by faith, that the water that came from that "Rock" was "spiritual drink". They knew, by faith, "that Rock that followed them was Christ" (1 Corinthians 10:1-4).
This is true of God's enlightened children in every age. God prepares us a table in the presence of our enemies. While the religious people of this world are playing church, and dancing with glee before gods of their own imaginations, we are holding 'A Feast In The Wilderness' unto the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the "Living Water".Jesus Christ is the "Bread of life". WE FEAST ON HIM!
