RESCUE BAPTIST CHURCH

THE PROMISE OF ETERNAL INHERITANCE
Heb. 9:15

Gene Harmon

Think about this! Sinners, who deserve nothing but God’s eternal wrath, ungodly men and women who love darkness and hate God and His light, sensible human beings who have enough understanding to know there is a God and a coming judgment, but still rebel against their Creator and willfully break His laws, are delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. Under the preaching of God’s glorious gospel, those who hear with the ears of the heart do not deny their guilt. With a broken heart and a remorseful spirit, brought about by the sovereign, convicting power of God the Holy Spirit, we cry out, “God be merciful to me, the sinner !” Those who are the called of God know that Jesus Christ redeemed them with His own precious blood. They know they were reconciled to God by the death of His Son. They know God has given them a full pardon and has forgiven them for Christ’s sake. They know that Jesus Christ is now seated in heaven as Lord over this whole universe and everything in it. And we gladly bow down to Him and worship Him. But we also know this: we have received “the promise of eternal inheritance”. A promise from God Himself that we have been made heirs and joint-heirs with Christ. Everything that Christ obtained by His perfect obedience to God the Father belongs to all those He represented while He was here on this earth. Heaven above, and all the blessings that go along with eternal bliss, belong to those who receive the promise of eternal inheritance.. In Christ we have obtained this inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of God who works all things after the counsel of His own will. And this inheritance, which is incorruptible, and undefiled, and will never fade away, is reserved in heaven for all who were redeemed by the blood of Christ. We have no right to heaven in ourselves. But our right is in Christ. And because of Him, all of God’s chosen, blood-bought children who are called into a living union with the Lord Jesus Christ, will hear these words: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord.” What a day to look forward to, when faith gives way to sight, and we enter into the fullness of our promised inheritance and see our blessed Redeemer in all His glory who obtained this eternal inheritance for us.”
