GOD HAS GIVEN US
II Tim 1:7

Heshimu Colar

"For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."–II Tim 1:7

Christians are not defeated. We are conquerors through Him that loved us. The phrase, "loved us" from Rom 8:37 deals with electing love that laid down His life at Calvary. This great God is reconciled to us permanently and shall never change His mind to be against us. He will use all things, at all times, for our good. He even takes the iniquity that we've committed, and in His hand, transforms us into new creations more dependent than ever on Christ. He will be for us, but only through the gospel of Christ, for that alone is how He saves – (II Tim 1:9-10) "Who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death, and has brought life and [incorruptibility] to light through the gospel."

Christ died to take away our sins, so that God can justly give us goodness. But, the goodness is "in Christ", so that looking anywhere else is death.

We have but two options: Believe or die. We can receive God's PERMANENT goodness to us, or we can reap death. We can be spiritually blessed, or barren and broken. We can conquer by the gospel, or we can fail. But, there is no power in flesh to conquer sin; it is in God who says, "Look unto me", and He never says, "Look away" or "Stop looking". There is not a time, when I should refuse the goodness of Christ, mercy of God, or love and wisdom that controls all for me. I am to believe.

In Christ, we have the wealth of God's goodness, but no where else. Look to Him, and you and I will see love, power, and self-control given to us. He will supply by the Spirit what He promises in the word, but only as we believe. It will come no other way.

We can examine self and sin all that we want, but power is not there. The Lord told Israel that "Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand", and, if the people tried any other way, it would fail (Judges 1:2). Likewise, God chose faith in Christ as the way to the wealth of godliness. Sanctification comes the EXACT same way as justification, which is by faith or looking unto Jesus. And, we don't conquer any other way: we receive His love, care, and will for us, in the middle of trials and failures, and then He delivers miraculously by the Spirit. It is God.

This salvation is for taking and not theorizing. Let our heart experience God's blessing, and He'll open the mouth with wisdom.
