CARRIED ALL THE WAY TO GLORY

Jim Byrd

"Hearken unto Me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by Me from the belly, which are carried from the womb: And even to your old age I am He; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."–Isaiah 46:3-4

A couple of weeks ago, I sent a birthday card to one of our dear ladies who is unable to assemble with us any longer, and I jotted down the above reference for her. Behold the Word of God to all the true sons and daughters of Jacob. When we came forth from our mother's womb the Lord was watching over us. In fact, before we were ever born, our sovereign God loved us and purposed to save us in His dear Son. To Jeremiah He said, "Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations" (Jeremiah 1:5). The Lord of glory brought us to trust the Lord Jesus Christ, forgave all of our iniquities through His precious blood and made us righteous in Him. Throughout our lives the Father has preserved us, and even when these bodies grow weak and the mind feeble, He will still be the great "I am," full of strength and grace, able to fully support us. The Shepherd has rescued His wandering lambs by almighty grace. He found us in the wilderness of sin, far away from the fold of salvation. By a mighty work of grace He picked us up and placed us upon His shoulders and brought us to safety. He continues to bear us now and will still carry us even when His sheep grow aged and weary. Some day He will bring us home to glory with rejoicing.
