A GOOD SAYING

Jim Byrd

"Forget injustices and neglect, but never forget a kindness nor an act of love." I saw this in a church bulletin years ago and wrote it down in my Bible. I don't remember who wrote it, but the admonition is always valid. Somehow it comes natural to magnify and remember the wrongs done toward us, and to forget the many acts of love and kindness done for us. And, it comes natural to remember the wrongs done toward us and to forget the wrongs we have done toward others! Why is that? Shame on us! Aren't you glad God has promised never to remember our sins or iniquities again? Are you not thankful for His just forgiveness of sins based upon the righteous obedience of the Lord Jesus Christ? Well then, since God does not hold against me my innumerable crimes against Him, let me not hold against a brother or sister in Christ any injustice done toward me. No one has ever or can ever come anywhere close to wronging me to the degree that I have wronged God, and yet He has fully and freely forgiven me through the blood of Christ. And may the Lord help me to remember the vast number of acts of love and kindness that people have shown to me.
