This "breast-plate of righteousness" is worn by every believer for it is the righteousness of the Son of God which is our effectual protection against every enemy. Who would be so foolish as to desire to have for a coverage and defense their own righteousness? Will my goodness safeguard me from the assaults of the wicked one? Why before him my puny rags of righteousness would offer only a make-believe armor. But clad in the garments of Christ's righteousness, the enemy can never pierce his way into my heart and mortally wound me. By His impeccable works of obedience the Lord Jesus has wrought out for me a perfect righteousness. The Father has accepted that righteousness and imputed it to my account. The Holy Spirit has convinced me of my need of Christ and His righteousness and given me faith to embrace the blessed Savior and rejoice in Him Who is "THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS." Here is my security and confidence, I have on "the breast-plate of righteousness." God Himself is satisfied and so am I.
