TO CHRIST OUR SAVIOR BE ALL PRAISE

Don Fortner
(Tune: And Can It Be #44 LMD)

Sinners, redeemed and saved by grace,
We gladly sing our Savior's praise,
Whose grace unchanging, like His name,
Remains eternally the same.
Chosen of old, by God approved,
Eternally in Christ beloved,
We were adopted children made,
Before the worlds our Father made.

Though sin and guilt defile us here,
In Christ complete we yet appear.
All that the law of God demands
Was satisfied by Jesus' hands.
Christ Jesus lived and died for us.
Our God imputes His work to us.
His blood atoned for His elect.
His righteousness makes us perfect.

In Christ our Father sees us all
Perfect before His holy law.
Perfection, then, in Christ we view,
Believing Him, we're perfect too!
Let every ransomed soul rejoice,
The favored object of God's choice.
Chosen, redeemed and saved by grace,
To Christ, our Savior, be all praise!

(207)

WILL THERE BE ONE EMPTY PLACE IN HEAVEN?

Don Fortner
(Tune: No, Not One #445 l0.6,l0.6)

Will there be one empty place in heaven?
No, not one! No, not one!
Will one be missing whom God has chosen?
No, not one! No, not one!

Refrain:
Jesus Christ, our almighty Savior,
Shall never fail to save His own.
He'll never lose one of His redeemed ones -
No, not one! No, not one!

God will not charge one sin to His children -
No, not one! No, not one!
Nor will He ever for sin condemn them -
No, not one! No, not one!

There is no trial but our Lord is with us -
No, not one! Not, not one!
No foe who from God's love can remove us -
No, not one! No, not one!

There's not a sheep that shall e'er miss heaven -
No, not one! No, not one!
Not one to Christ, the Good Shepherd, given -
No, not one! No, not one!

(208)

IF GOD BEGINS HIS WORK OF GRACE

Don Fortner
(Tune: There Is A Fountain #222 CM)

If God begins His work of grace
In any sinner's heart,
That sinner He will keep secure -
From Christ he can't depart.

The objects of eternal love
Shall persevere, I know
Chosen, redeemed, and called by grace,
God will not let them go.

Frustrated, grace can never be:
Christ did not die in vain!
All those for whom He shed His blood
Eternal life must gain!

Who can condemn the blood-bought soul,
Or charge God's own with sin?
In Christ we're freely justified.
With Him we'll ever reign!

Grace shall complete what grace began -
All glory to the Lord!
Eternally we'll shout His praise -
"Salvation's of the Lord!"

(209)

PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL, MEN OF GOD

Don Fortner
(Tune: O God Our Help in Ages Past #10 CM)

Proclaim the Word of Truth abroad
To all the sons of men:
Tell how our God, by sovereign grace,
Saves all who trust in Him.

Proclaim our God's electing love
And Jesus' precious blood,
Christ's righteousness, the Spirit's call,
Salvation by our God!

Proclaim the Gospel, men of God,
Your work is not in vain!
God will apply His Word and save
A multitude from sin.

Wherever faithful men today
Proclaim Your sovereign grace,
Be pleased, O Lord, for Jesus' sake,
Sinners from death to raise.

(210)

BEHOLD THE HARVEST GREAT

Don Fortner
(Tune: This Is My Father's World #39 SMD)

Behold the harvest great -
There is a multitude
Whom God shall save from sin and death,
A chosen multitude!
Though ruined and condemned,
And lost by Adam's fall,
That chosen race which Christ redeemed
He will effectually call!

The Holy Spirit shall
Be given to Christ's seed;
They all shall live by sovereign grace
And trust their covenant Head.
But God will use the means
Which He ordained to save:
Without the preaching of His Word
No sinner can be saved.

So, Father, now we pray
That You will raise up men,
As faithful laborers in Your Word,
To bring the harvest in.
Send forth Your servants, Lord,
With wisdom, power, and grace;
And we will give them what they need
To preach Your sovereign grace.

(211)

ALMIGHTY FATHER, SOVEREIGN LORD

Don Fortner
(Tune: O God Our Help In Ages Past #10 CM)

Almighty Father, sovereign Lord,
Receive our humble praise
For Your eternal love toward us
And Your designs of grace.

Almighty Savior, Son of God,
We yield to Your control;
Your blood, and righteousness, and grace,
Make us completely whole.

Almighty Spirit, Comforter,
Show us our Savior's face;
Send forth Your Word with power now -
Revive our hearts with grace.

Almighty, holy, sovereign God,
Eternal Three in One,
We worship You, the Father, and
The Spirit, and the Son.

(212)

SAVED BY GOD'S SOVEREIGN GRACE, I'M SAVED!

Don Fortner
(Tune: When I Can Read My Title Clear #497 CM)

Saved by God's sov'reign grace, I'm saved,
Saved from eternity!
Before the world began my Lord,
The Lamb, was slain for me!

Foreknown in love, and justified,
And called by grace in Christ,
Before all worlds redeemed by blood,
And glorified with Christ!

Not by my works, but by His grace,
God chose me in His Son!
By His decree He gave me life
In Christ His darling Son!

Now here's the proof of God's free grace
And everlasting love -
He gave me life and faith in Christ
In His own time of love!

(213)

WE ARE THE SONS OF GOD!

Don Fortner
(Tune: The Son Of God Goes Forth To War #412 CMD)

When Adam in the garden sinned
And broke his Maker's law,
He died and we all died in him -
We're ruined by the fall!
But Christ, the Second Adam, came
At God's appointed time,
To save a chosen multitude
By His own grace divine.

Christ lived in perfect righteousness
And shed His precious blood:
Through His obedience and blood,
We're justified by God!
The Holy Spirit now applies
Christ's sin atoning blood,
And by His mighty, sovereign grace
He gives us faith in God!

Not by the works which we have done
But by God's sov'reign grace,
In Christ we're saved, forever saved!
Our God shall have our praise!
The Father's free, electing love,
The Son's redeeming blood,
And by the Spirit's mighty call,
We are the sons of God!

(214)

GREAT SAVIOR, WE ADORE YOUR NAME

Don Fortner
(Tune: All Hail The Power! #42 CM)

Great Savior, we adore Your name
With hearts of grateful praise,
For all that You have done for us
By Your almighty grace.

A Surety for us You stood
Before the worlds were made,
Agreeing to God's just demands
As our great covenant Head.

At last, in faithful love You came
To save the chosen race,
In love You freely died for us
Only compelled by grace.

And now You reign upon Your throne,
Our Mediator-King -
To save Your chosen, ransomed ones,
You govern everything!

Soon all who must be shall be saved,
According to Your Word -
And in the end (Rejoice, my heart!)
All things will honor God!

(215)

PRESERVE MY SOUL FROM HARM

Don Fortner
(Tune: Majestic Sweetness #52 CM)

Lord, You have saved me by Your grace,
Though I deserve Your wrath.
When I was lost, You found me and
You gave me life and faith.

But in this frail and sinful flesh
I need Your constant care:
Supply me with unfailing grace,
That I may persevere.

Savior, sustain me with Your strength,
I lean upon Your arm.
Until the storm of life is past
Preserve my soul from harm.

Christ Jesus, all-sufficient Friend,
I need Your daily grace,
Keep me in life and let my end
Be everlasting peace.

(216)

PRAISE GOD FOR GRACE!

Don Fortner
(Tune: Just As I Am #249)

Eternal love, electing grace
Secured for me in heav'n a place:
Chosen from all eternity,
The Son of God by blood bought me.

The Spirit came in sov'reign pow'r
At the exact appointed hour,
Revealing Christ, creating faith,
My soul He quickened from its death.

Now I rejoice in sov'reign grace,
My sov'reign God shall have my praise:
Praise God for grace! Praise God for grace!
Sov'reign, eternal, saving grace!

(217)

I'M NOT IN BONDAGE NOW!

Don Fortner
(Tune: I Heard The Voice Of Jesus Say #225 CMD)

Though I was born and lived in sin,
A wretched child of wrath,
Justly condemned and helpless too,
Deserving endless death -
Christ freed me from the law's dread curse,
I'm not in bondage now!
Its' terrors I no longer dread,
Its' wrath I'll never know!

Christ is the Lord my Righteousness,
Who lived and died for me;
Fulfilling all the law's demands,
His blood has made me free!
That blood, applied, removes my guilt
And gives me perfect peace:
There's nothing left for me to do,
I'm saved by sov'reign grace!

I will not live by legal rules,
Like slaves who know not God;
I am a son, an heir of grace,
A sinner bought by blood!
The love and grace of God in Christ
(The law of ransomed sons)
Constrain my heart, most willingly
To live for Christ alone.

(218)

IN CHRIST THE LAW IS MAGNIFIED

Don Fortner
(Tune: Only Trust Him #252 CM)

The Jews of old their sabbaths kept,
A picture of that rest
Which sinners find in Christ, who said,
"Come unto me and rest."

Refrain:
Look to Jesus, He has finished
All the law required:
Glory, glory, Christ has finished
All the law required!

Under the law they sacrificed
The blood of helpless lambs,
Pictures of Christ, the Lamb of God,
Who took away our sins.

By tithes those ancient ones confessed
That they belonged to God:
By willing faith we consecrate
Our all to Christ our God.

Helpless, we never could obey
The law's righteous commands;
But Jesus lived and died for us,
And met its just demands.

God's holy law points us to Christ,
Who fulfilled its designs:
In Christ the law is magnified -
In Him its glory shines!

(219)

GOD OUR FATHER RULES O'ER ALL THINGS

Don Fortner
(Tune: Love Divine #2)

God our Father rules o'er all things,
And takes care of our affairs:
Our mighty Lord, the King of kings,
Bids us cast on Him our cares.
Wondrous grace, so full of comfort,
Grace to meet our every need!
Jehovah is faith's sweet Resort -
Trusting Him from care we're freed.

Children of the glor'ous Sov'reign,
Trust His gracious providence,
Bow to God's almighty, just reign,
With implicit confidence.
He will keep you and defend you,
As the apple of His eye:
God will never, never leave you,
He is always by your side.

I will trust, and not be fearful,
Though my path be rough and dark,
For my God is ever faithful:
He secures my weary heart.
Every promise must be fulfilled,
Every word from God will stand:
Hush, my troubled heart, now be stilled -
God, my Father's in command!

(220)

O LORD, MY GOD, HOW GREAT YOU ARE!

Don Fortner
(Tune: My Faith Has Found A Resting Place #228 CMD)

O Lord, my God, how great You are!
How good You've been to me!
I praise You for Your providence
And for Your grace so free!
Loved with an everlasting love,
And by the Spirit called,
I'm justified by Jesus' blood,
Spotless before the law!

My Savior reigns in sovereignty,
Controlling everything!
Be gone all unbelief and fear -
Christ is my God and King!
Through raging fires, and waters deep,
And darkness I must go;
Yet, I shall not fear - God is near
And will not let me go!

When my appointed end has come
And all my work is done,
My gracious God will bring me home
To sing before His throne,
"O Lord, my God, how great You are!
How good You've been to me!
I praise You for Your providence,
And for Your grace so free!"

(221)

WHEN FAITH SEES JESUS CRUCIFIED

Don Fortner
(Tune: Jesus, The Very Thought Of Thee #58 CM)

When faith sees Jesus crucified
Upon the cursed tree
My heart is conquered by His love,
His dying love for me!

The myst'ries of my dying God
I cannot see, I know:
But to that God who died for me
My life and soul I owe.

His head, His hands, His feet, His heart
Were pierced to save my soul!
For me Christ died with broken heart
In agony of soul!

Lord Jesus, Savior, God, my King,
To You I give my love;
My heart, my life, my soul I give,
Constrained by Your great love.

O Holy Spirit, show me more
Of Jesus Christ, my Lord!
That I may trust and love Him more
Who saved me by His blood.

(222)

GREAT GOD OF MATCHLESS HOLINESS

Don Fortner
(Tune: I Heard The Voice Of Jesus Say #225 CMD)

Great God of matchless holiness,
Infinite and alone,
Transcending all creation - God!
I bow before Your throne.
My goodness withers, like a leaf,
Before Your holiness:
With fear and trembling, I confess
My utter sinfulness!

My nature and my deeds and, yes,
Even my righteousness,
Is sin before You, holy God,
I shamefully confess.
Yet, in the teeth of all my sin,
I trust the precious blood
Of Christ, the LORD my Righteousness,
The holy Son of God!

Look not upon my sin, my God,
But look upon the blood;
Forgive and cleanse me of my sin
Through Jesus' precious blood.
Impute to me Christ's righteousness,
Impart His holiness;
Accept me by the merits of
Christ's perfect holiness.

(223)

BY GOD'S AMAZING GRACE ALONE

Don Fortner
(Tune: The Son Of God Goes Forth To War #412 CMD)

Chosen by grace, redeemed by blood,
And by the Spirit called,
I'm saved, I'm free, I'm not condemned,
Not even by God's law!

Refrain:
By God's amazing grace alone,
I'm saved by sovereign grace!
Not by my will, nor by my works,
I'm saved by sovereign grace!

Christ Jesus is my Righteousness
And my Redemption too;
I'm justified and sanctified,
But not by what I do!

Immutably secure I am
For all eternity
Because Christ lived and died for me -
Beloved Surety!

And when at last I see the face
Of Jesus Christ my King,
In glory, at His throne of grace,
I shall forever sing -

(224)

I PLEAD THE MERITS OF THE BLOOD

Don Fortner
(Tune: When I Survey #118 LM)

Remember, Lord, the blood and sweat
Of Him who more than paid my debt.
Remember Christ upon the tree,
And now be merciful to me.

Remember how that Jesus bled
In this poor, guilty sinner's stead.
He bore Your wrath and curse for me
In His own body on the tree.

A perfect righteousness He wrought,
And by His blood my pardon bought,
So that His righteousness might be
By grace imputed now to me.

I plead the merits of the blood
Of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The sinner's Substitute is He,
A mighty Substitute for me!

(225)

FAITH IS THE GIFT OF GRACE ALONE

Don Fortner
(Tune: When I Can Read My Title Clear #497 CM)

Faith is the gift of grace alone,
My God, how can it be,
That You should choose, in saving love,
To give that gift to me?

A fallen, guilty sinner, I
Deserve eternal wrath;
Helpless, I would not come to Christ,
Could not escape my death.

Great God, You sought this sinner out,
You called, and now I live!
You gently forced me to Your Son,
And caused me to believe!

A sinner saved by sovereign grace,
My praise I cannot hold:
Hail, sovereign, free, unchanging grace!
"Salvation's of the Lord!"

(226)

JESUS EVER SPEAKS BY BLOOD

Don Fortner
(Tune: Holy Spirit, Faithful Guide - 77.77D)

Jesus ever speaks by blood
For the chosen sons of God.
Who shall charge us now with sin?
Jesus' blood declares us clean!
All our sins on Christ were laid.
He for sinners sin was made!
When for us the Surety died,
Justice there was satisfied.

Though the law could never bow,
It cannot condemn us now.
Jesus' blood makes us complete,
Speaking from the mercy-seat.
For His ransomed ones He claims,
(See, upon His heart their names!)
Pardon and eternal life,
Pleading His great sacrifice.

God in judgment still will hear
Jesus' blood our souls to clear:
"All their debts you cast on Me,
All is paid, they must go free!"
Then His courts we'll enter in,
Freed from guilt and blame and sin!
Sinners reconciled by blood,
Evermore we'll praise our God!

(227)

SINNERS SAVED BY SOVEREIGN GRACE

Don Fortner
(Tune: Holy Spirit,Faithful Guide #169 77.77D)

Sinners saved by sovereign grace,
Calv'rys wonders let us trace:
God is just and gracious too,
Hiding all our sins from view.
Christ has put our sins away,
Buried in the deepest sea,
Cast them all behind God's back!
Who can ever bring them back?

O my soul, the wonder tell,
Jesus has done all things well!
By His sin atoning blood,
I am reconciled to God.
Justice, mercy, truth and love,
Every attribute of God,
Joined to make salvation sure
And my ransomed soul secure.

Love, amazing love, so free,
Brought Christ down to die for me.
All my foes He has dispelled,
Conquered satan, death and hell.
What a sure foundation this!
Rest, my soul, forever rest.
By my Savior's precious blood
I'm accepted with my God.

(228)

THIS IS THE BLESSED PLACE

Don Fortner
(Tune: Crown Him With Many Crowns #62 SMD)

This is the blessed place
Where our Redeemer comes,
To show the wonders of His grace
And meet His ransomed ones.
We've gathered in Christ's name.
(He is our Mercy-Seat!)
We turn our hopeful eyes to Him,
And worship at His feet.

We wait before Your throne,
And seek Your grace this hour.
O Lord, Your servant's message own,
And clothe him with Your power.
Lord, hear our prayers and cries,
Accept our feeble praise,
Give ear to our unspoken sighs,
And answer by Your grace.

God will His grace impart.
His mercy He will give.
He can revive our listless hearts
And cause the dead to live!
Give us, O Lord, a place
Around Your throne above,
Among those sinners saved by grace,
The people of Your love.

(229)

JESUS IS THE ONE THING NEEDFUL

Don Fortner
(Tune: Brethren, We Have Met To Worship - 87.87D)

Jesus is the One Thing Needful.
Without Him I cannot live.
He alone is my salvation.
By His grace alone I live.
I must have Him, I must have Him;
Or I must forever die!
None but Jesus, none but Jesus,
Can this sinner justify.

Jesus was the One Thing Needful
In the covenant of grace.
God, our Father, looked on Jesus
As the Surety in our place.
On the promise of obedience,
God gave His elect to Christ.
Help was laid on One that's mighty.
And that mighty One is Christ.

Jesus is the One Thing Needful
While we walk the pilgrim way.
Like the fiery, cloudy pillar,
He will guide us in His way.
He's the Rock of our salvation.
Grace and mercy He'll supply.
He's our Strength and Consolation,
Prophet, Priest and King, and Guide!

Jesus is the One Thing Needful
For eternal joy and bliss.
Christ will be our Crown of Glory,
Crown of Life and Righteousness!
Heaven is to be with Jesus
And to see Him as He is!
Jesus is the Sum and Substance
Of eternal joy and bliss!

(230)

BE STILL, MY HEART, AND DOUBT NO MORE

Don Fortner
(Tune: There Is A Fountain #222 CMD)

Upon my great and sovereign God
I cast my soul and rest.
My Father's hand controls the world;
And what He does is best.

Refrain:
Be still, my heart, and doubt no more,
Believe, and find sweet rest.
God's wisdom, love, and truth, and power
Combine to make me blest!

In raging storms and fiery trials
He keeps me from all harm.
He walks with me and holds me in
His everlasting arms!

My God, with skill infallible,
And great designs of grace,
With power and love that never fail,
Shall order all my ways.

My life's most minute circumstance
Is ordered by my God,
Who promised that in all things He
Will ever do me good.

(231)

SINNER, IF YOU WOULD PARDON HAVE

Don Fortner
(Tune: From Every Stormy Wind That Blows #355 LM)

Sinner, if you, would pardon have,
Seek pard'ning mercy from the Lord.
"Ask and receive," the Savior said,
And He is faithful to His Word.

There is no work for you to do -
Christ did it all, Himself alone.
He lived, and died, and rose again.
Salvation's by free grace alone!

A feast for sinners is prepared,
A feast of mercy and of grace:
Come, every hungry, thirsty soul,
And feast upon Christ's boundless grace.

Though millions have already come
And found in Jesus all we need,
For sinners there is yet more room
And grace to meet your every need.

(232)

GOD'S TRUTH AND FAITHFULNESS

Don Fortner
(Tune: O How I Love Jesus #483 CM)

The Lord is true, and faithful, and
Most worthy of our faith.
He's proved His own veracity -
Be gone my unbelief!

Refrain:
God's truth and faithfulness
Can never be denied.
God's worthy of our faith
Because He cannot lie.

His purposes, and promises,
And prophecies fulfilled
Assure us that God's Word is true -
His truth has never failed.

To all His people God is true.
We've proved His faithfulness:
His pardon, grace, and providence
Display His truthfulness.

And, yes, the Gospel of His grace,
Like God Himself, is true.
Believe on Jesus Christ His Son,
And God will forgive you!

(233)

WAS IT FOR ME?

Don Fortner
(Tune: Cleanse Me #166 10.10.10.10)

Was it for me, dear holy Lamb of God,
That You in death poured out Your precious blood?
Did You in love suffer and die for me?
Savior, did You take all my sins away?

Am I Your child, redeemed and called by grace,
A sinner saved from Adam's fallen race,
Kept and preserved by Your almighty hand?
Saved by Your sovereign grace, by grace I stand.

Savior divine, I owe my all to You.
To You, my sovereign Lord, all praise is due.
I give myself and all I have to You.
Use me, my Savior, as it pleases You.

(234)

JESUS! THE NAME I LOVE TO HEAR

Don Fortner
(Tune: Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed #110 CM)

Jesus! The name I love to hear!
Jesus! The name I trust!
Jesus alone is full of grace!
Jesus alone I trust!

My soul was guilty and condemned,
In bondage, dead, I lay,
Hopeless, and helpless, and depraved,
Rushing to hell each day.

But Jesus Christ, mighty to save,
Stretched out His saving hand.
He snatched me from the jaws of hell,
And turned my heart to Him!

He showed me how He bled and died,
And purged my sins away.
I saw my Savior crucified -
O happy, glorious day!

Beset by foes within, without,
I look to Christ alone.
Immutable, free, sovereign grace
Will bring this sinner home!

Jesus! I love to hear His name!
Jesus is my great God!
I'll evermore proclaim His praise,
Who saved me by His blood!

(235)

BEHOLD THE WOND'ROUS LOVE OF GOD

Don Fortner
(Tune: O How I Love Jesus #483 CM)

Behold the wond'rous love of God,
So infinite and free!
His love makes us the heirs of grace
And gives us liberty!

In the eternal ages past,
Before the world began,
God's love devised the scheme of grace
To ransom fallen man.

God in the covenant of grace
Elected all His own;
And for the ransom of our souls
He gave His only Son!

And for the love He has for us
Christ Jesus bled and died,
That by the merits of His blood
We might be justified!

In love the Holy Spirit came
To raise us from the dead.
He gave us life and faith in Christ.
And by His grace we're led.

That love which chose and ransomed us,
And raised us from the dead,
Will never, ever let us die.
It's wond'rous love indeed!

(236)

YOUR SERVANT BLESS WITH POWER, LORD

Don Fortner
(Tune: Just As I Am #249 LM)

Your servant bless with power, Lord,
To preach to us, Your gospel word.
Enable him to preach the thing
That brings our hearts to Christ, our King.

As he proclaims the gospel news,
God, grant us fresh, delightful views
Of Jesus Christ, the bleeding Lamb,
And in our hearts, exalt His name.

Now fill our hearts with burning love
For Christ, who intercedes above.
Oh, let us hear our Savior's voice,
And in His precious name rejoice!

(237)

WHO CAN DESCRIBE THE JOY WE KNOW

Don Fortner
(Tune: When I Can Read My Title Clear #497 CM)

Who can describe the joy we know,
Assembled in this place?
As prodigals brought home to God,
We're sinners saved by grace!

Our Father loves, and He approves
Of us through Jesus' blood.
Our Savior looks with joy on us,
The purchase of His blood.

The Spirit takes delight in us,
Renewed by sov'reign grace.
We're sinners, but we're saints of God.
And we rejoice in grace!

(238)

"IT'S DONE!"

Don Fortner
(Tune: When I Can Read My Title Clear #497 CM)

"It's done!" O hear the glorious news,
"It's done!" "It's done!" "It's done!"
Salvation in its fulness is
A work completely done!

The work of grace was all complete
Before the worlds were made.
The Lamb was slain and God's elect,
By covenant grace, were saved!

The Son of God once came to earth
His Father's will to do.
When He returned to heav'n with blood,
Nothing was left to do.

Now, sinner, all your doings leave,
And trust the Son of God.
His blood and righteousness receive,
And give all praise to God.

(239)

"THE PRECIOUS THINGS OF HEAVEN"

Don Fortner
(Tune: Jesus, The Very Thought Of Thee #58)

Our God, in cov'nant mercy, gives
"The precious things of heav'n"
To all His loved and chosen ones,
The heirs of grace and heav'n.

Salvation's sure foundation Stone
Is laid n heav'n for us:
Unto you therefore which believe
Christ Jesus is precious.

The precious blood of Christ was shed,
Redeeming us from sin:
Applied by grace, it's precious blood,
We've felt its pow'r within.

Like precious faith with God's elect,
We have by grace received:
The Spirit's pow'r, revealing Christ,
Called us, and we believed.

The precious promises of God
Are given unto us:
In Christ the promises are sure,
Sure as God's truthfulness.

Even the trial of our faith
Is a most precious thing:
It shall be found a cause for praise
To honor Christ our King.

(240)

BEHOLD THE SAVIOR

Don Fortner
(Tune: O For A Thousand Tongues #446)

Behold, He came, our Savior God!
He came to save His own:
By His own blood and righteousness,
The work was fully done.

Behold, He died, the Substitute!
He bore the wrath of God:
The sword of justice and of wrath
Was drown'd in Jesus' blood.

Behold, He rose, He rose for us!
Triumphant o'er the grave:
Freed from our sins, He lives above,
The risen Christ can save.

Behold, He saves! Yes, Jesus saves!
Sinner, there's hope for you:
Come, trust His blood and righteousness,
Believe, and He'll save you.

Behold, He reigns! The God-Man reigns!
He reigns as sov'reign Lord:
All creatures soon must bow and say,
That Jesus Christ is Lord!

Behold, He comes again: Rejoice!
Let ransomed sinners sing:
We'll see that One who died for us -
We soon shall see our King!
