THERE IS FORGIVENESS WITH THEE

Don Fortner
Out of the depths, O Lord, I cry,
Convicted of my sin:
Within, without, in heart and deed,
I'm nothing else but sin.
If You should mark iniquity,
O Lord, I could not stand,
Eternal wrath, eternal death,
Your justice would demand.

"But there is forgiveness with Thee,
That Thou mayest be feared!-
Yes, "There is forgiveness with Thee,
That Thou mayest be feared!"
Since Jesus lived and died for men,
And satisfied the law,
You can forgive me of my sin,
And never bend Your law.

And so, my God, I plead the blood
Of Christ, Your own dear Son:
I hope for mercy and for grace,
I wait before Your throne.
Though sinful, Lord, I do have hope,
I hope in Your mercy:
I know that if You will You can
Forgive iniquity.

Yet, I have hope that's stronger still,
Founded upon Your Word:
"He that believes is not condemned!"
The promise of Your Word.
Now, I believe in Jesus Christ,
Confessing all my sin;
In justice and in faithfulness,
You do forgive my sin!

SOVEREIGN GRACE, I WILL PROCLAIM IT!

Don Fortner
Wretched, lost, condemned and dying,
Guilty, I deserved God's wrath:
Long I fought against my Master,
Hell-bent, I was courting death:
But the blood of Christ had bought me,
He refused to let me die:
This poor sinner, loved by Jesus,
Must be conquered, by and by.

At the time which was predestined
In the covenant of God's grace,
God in mercy sent His Spirit,
(Blessed time of love and grace!)
To reveal His Son's great merit
As the sinner's Substitute:
I saw Jesus bleeding, dying,
Suffering as my Substitute!

Precious blood for sin's atonement,
Justice could not ask for more:
I heard Christ cry, "It is finished!"
And I could resist no more:
Thanks to God for intervening
Grace that broke my stubborn will,
Grace that would not let me perish,
Grace that rescued me from hell!

Sovereign grace, I will proclaim it,
Irresistible and free!
Grace that chose me and redeemed me-
God by grace alone saved me!
Sinner, now you've heard my story,
Now I bid you, trust my God:
Christ, my all-sufficient Savior,
Saves poor sinners by His blood.

(Tune: What a Friend We Have in Jesus)

WHERE'ER YOUR PEOPLE GATHER, LORD

Don Fortner
Where'er Your people gather, Lord,
Around the Mercy-Seat,
Be pleased to grant Your grace and power,
Where'er Your church may meet:
Some gather in a stately place,
Some in a modest home,
But all who know Your love and grace
To worship Christ have come.

A special favor we would seek
Who worship in this place:
Pour out your Spirit, flood our souls
With visions of Your grace;
Your servant fill with pow'r to preach
A word from God for us-
Send forth the mighty gospel, Lord,
To everyone of us.

Yet, we would not neglect to pray
For friends around the world,
E'en for the flocks of saints
Who worship Christ our Lord:
For those who have no messengers
Of grace and truth from God,
Give them good pastors from Your heart,
Provide their souls with food.

All saints are one around the world,
And those in heaven too-
The universal Church of God,
A glorious multitude!
As one great chosen Family,
We gather 'round God's Throne:
Redeemed and called by grace Divine
To make His glory known.

THE LORD HIMSELF IS CALLING

Don Fortner
The Lord Himself is calling,
THe's calling unto you:
He bids you, weary sinner,
Believe His Word, it's true:
There's pardon and forgiveness
Through Jesus'precious blood,
For every guilty sinner,
Who trusts the Lamb of God.

The Son of God uplifted
Upon the cursed tree,
Is able by His merit
To set you, sinner, free:
Look, sinner, look to Jesus,
He'll give you eyes to see-
His blood for sin's atonement
He shed at Calvary.

Repent, believe in Jesus,
Confess your sin to Him;
He is the Friend of sinners;
Come, cast your soul on Him:
Oh, trust the blessed Savior;
Come, bow before His dirone:
The moment you believe Him,
Your burden will be gone!

Your guilt and condemnation,
God will by grace remove;
Christ's righteousness He'll give you,
And show His sov'reign love:
Yes, every guilty sinner,
Who trusts His saving grace,
The Son of God has promised
In mercy to embrace.

(Tune: The Church's One Foundation)

I SEE THE BLESSED SAVIOR

Don Fortner
I see the blessed Savior
Uplifted on the tree,
The law holds Him its captive,
That sinners might go free:
His blood, poured out in mercy,
It does for sin atone:
I hear Him cry, "It is finished!"
The work is fully done!

I see the mighty Victor,
Arising from the grave,
Death, hell and Satan vanquished,
This mighty God can save!
Christ took His place in heaven,
Upon the throne above:
To Him all pow'r is given
To save the souls He loves.

I hear Him interceding,
He spreads His wounded hands;
For sinners He is pleading,
More numerous than the sands:
He asks for those He purchased.
His blood is all He pleads:
The Father can't refuse Him,
He'll have His ransomed seed.

I trust You, Jesus, Savior,
I bow before Your throne;
By sov'reign mercy save me,
And take me for Your own!
Your blood's my only cleansing,
Your righteousness, my robe:
You are my only Refuge,
I have no other hope.

(Tune: Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus)
76.76. Double

(41)

HERE'S THE MESSAGE, GO PROCLAIM IT

Don Fortner
What shall I cry?" the preacher said,
What shall I proclaim to men?
What will strip the haughty sinner,
And expose his inward sin?
What will comfort the sad mourner,
And give peace that will abide?
Here's the message, go proclaim it:
"Jesus, Jesus crucified!"

Sinner, be not proud but humble,
We are worthless, worthless grass:
All those works we thought so noble,
They are flowers of the grass:
Failing, fading, soon they wither,
As the flowers of the field.
Judgement comes, and all will perish,
Who upon their own works build.

Yet there's hope for helpless sinners-
Look, "Behold your God," and live!
God incarnate died for sinners;
Trust Him, and your soul shall live!
Christ ascended up to heaven,
And sent down the Holy Ghost:
He is able, He is able,
To save to the uttermost.

And for all who trust our Savior,
Still the message is the same:
Look to Jesus, look to Jesus,
Find all comfort in His name.
He is greater that your troubles,
He's the great, almighty God:
Trust Him, He will not forget you,
He has bought you by His blood.

(Tune: Love Divine)
87.87 Double

(42)

HERE'S MY HOPE AND CONSOLATION

Don Fortner
In myself I have no merit,
Nothing good have I to give,
That a holy, just and perfect
God could ever let me live:
Sin defiles my best performance,
Guilty, vile and ruined I am:
Yet, my heart breaks in repentance:
By God's grace I see the Lamb!

See the Lamb of God, our Savior,
Bearing all our sin and shaine-
By eternal love and favor,
Jesus died bearing our blame:
Bruised and wounded and forsaken,
As our Substitute He died-
"It is finished!" Sin's forgiven!
Justice now is satisfied!

Here's my hope and consolation-
Jesus died for sinners' sake:
Trusting Him I have salvation,
And the cup of blessing take:
All is well, I cannot doubt it,
God, who gave His Son for me,
Rules this world and all things in it
For my good eternally.

So I'll trust my God and Savior,
Though my joy is mixed with pain:
He is worthy, worthy ever,
That in me His peace should reign:
Faith in such a great Redeemer
Gives my soul a blessed calm;
Christ is near, He's my Protector,
He will keep me from all harm.

(Tune: Come, Thou Fount)
87.87.Double

(43)

THERE IS A STRUGGLE IN MY SOUL

Don Fortner
There is a struggle in my soul,
A warfare in my breast
My sinful flesh strives for control
And never lets me rest.
My best works all are marred by sin,
My goodness is defiled:
My righteousness is only sin,
My thoughts with sin run wild.

In my flesh there is nothing good,
Only my wretched sin:
I cannot do the things I would,
I cannot cease from sin.
But in my inmost soul, I know,
I love God's holy law,
Abhor myself and all I do-
My sin is my soul's gall.

O wretched, wretched man I am!
Who shall deliver me?
The blood of Jesus Christ the Lamb
Alone can set me free!
O God, be merciful to me!
I am a wretch undone.
O God, be merciful to me!
I trust Your holy Son.

I am from condemnation free,
Through Jesus Christ, my Lord,
And live in hope of that great day
When I shall see my God:
Then I from all sin shall be free
And enter into rest:
Soon I shall gain the victory,
And be forever blessed!

THE SON OF GOD HAS COME TO EARTH

Don Fortner
The Son of God has come to earth,
TAnd Jesus is His name,
To save a chosen race from sin,
In flesh and blood He came.
He passed the fallen angels by
And many fallen men;
But for His own elect He died
And took away our sin.

And now the Man who is our God
Is seated on His throne:
Christ rules all things with sov'reign pow'r
To save His chosen ones.
Oh, how we ought to praise our Lord,
For all His matchless grace!
Chosen, redeemed and called by Him,
Christ well deserves our praise!

The angels must astonished be
That we, who know Christ's love,
Could ever cold and thankless be,
And so indiff'rent prove!
T'hat coldness makes us blush with shame-
Forgive us, Lord, this fault:
Savior, inflame our hearts with love
And fill our every thought.

Soon, soon, we shall be frced from sin,
O hasten, Lord, the day!
We will at last the victory win,
Darkness will pass away!
Our God in human flesh we'll see
(Our Savior glorified!)
With perfect heart and perfect voice,
We'll praise Christ crucified!

(Tune: It Came Upon a Midnight Clear)

I'M SAVED BY SOVEREIGN GRACE

Don Fortner
Long, long before the world was made
God chose to save me by His grace,
And blessed me in my covenant Head
With every blessing of His grace:
In Christ, my Surety, was found
A ransom for God's chosen one;
Deliverance was then proclaimed,
And God's great work of grace begun.

In the due time my Savior came
To do His holy Father's will;
A body was prepared for Him,
That He might righteousness fulfill:
When Christ had righteousness brought in,
He took my awful load of sin;
Dying for me upon the tree,
My Savior put away my sin.

Though I was born a child of wrath,
Depraved and helpless, dead in sin,
And though I chose the rebel's path,
My Savior's love could not be quenched!
He sought and found me by His grace:
Awakened by His Spirit's call,
I'm saved, I'm saved by sovereign grace!

Amazing, free and sovereign grace-
In love Christ Jesus took my place!
Chosen, redeemed and called by grace,
To Christ alone I give all praise.
My only hope, my only plea,
Is that Christ lived and died for me:
In Him alone I am complete;
To Christ alone my praise shall be.

THE GOD-MAN OUR SAVIOR

Don Fortner
Behold this wondrous mystery,
The God, Who cannot change,
Takes on Himself a robe of flesh,
Yet, He the same remains!
The Babe of Mary's tender love
Is God who gives her breath,
The Man who died on Calvary's tree
Is God even in death!

The sinner's Substitute must be
Both God and man in One,
For God could never suffer death,
Nor could a man atone:
But He who is both God and man
A full salvation brings,
He brought in perfect righteousness
And washed away our sins!

That same eternal, changeless God,
A Man in heaven reigns:
The God-man rules upon His throne
Sov'reign over all things:
He reigns eternal life to give
To all His chosen ones;
And all who trust in Him alone
God will receive as sons.

Incarnate God we worship You,
And bring to You our praise:
We trust Your blood and righteousness,
And look to You for grace.
Preserve us by Your power Divine,
And hold us in Your hand,
Until we see You face to face
In heaven's glory-land.

THE CONVANT ORDERED AND SURE

Don Fortner
God, the Father and the Son
And the Spirit, Three in One,
In eternal ages past
Made a covenant sure and fast.
God my Father chose His own
In the Person of His Son;
And ordained that I should be
One with Him eternally.

God the Son agreed to come
In the flesh to bring me home:
He would keep God's holy law
And retrieve me from the fall.
Christ in love so willingly,
Stood as my great Surety:
For my price He offered blood,
To appease the wrath of God.

God the Spirit, heav'nly Dove,
Promised to come down in love,
Bringing life and peace and grace
To the chosen, purchased race.
He seeks the lost, heals the lame,
And He brings us to the Lamb,
By His mighty, sovereign call,
God's elect are gathered, all.

This poor sinner is secure,
For God's covenant will endure:
It is sealed by God's own Word,
By His Spirit and His blood.
Blessed, holy, covenant God,
I am yours by ties of blood:
Ties of grace and ties of love
Hold me to my God above.

(Tune: Holy Spirit, Faithful Guide)
77.77. Double

(48)

GRANT TO ME, O GRACIOUS LORD

Don Fortner
Grant to me, O gracious Lord,
True submission to Your Word:
As Your servant stands to preach
Give him words my heart to reach
As he unfolds the blessed Book.
Give me faith on Christ to look.

Looking on Your blessed Son
Cause my heart o'er sin to mourn;
Looking still on Christ the Lamb,
Stir my soul to praise His name:
By Your grace, through Jesus'blood
I'm redeemed, an heir of God!

Grant that others here may see
Christ expiring on the tree,
Risen, and exalted high,
So that we might never die:
Send Your Spirit now in pow'r
And awake the dead this hour.

When the message is declared,
And we've in Your worship shared,
Let us from this house depart
Joyful and refreshed in heart:
Let us daily seek Your face,
Daily live upon Your grace.

(Tune: Rock of Ages)
77.77.77.

(49)

WE BRING OUR GIFTS, OUR GOD

Don Fortner
We bring our gifts, our God,
With hearts of love and praise,
Grateful for all Your boundless good
And for Your saving grace.

Without constraint of law,
Tokens of love we bring,
To Christ, who for us gave His all,
Our great Redeemer-King.

(Tune: Blest Be the Tie)
Short Meter 66.86.

FOR THE GLORY OF HIS GRACE

Don Fortner
We were ruined by the fall,
Adam's sin defiles us all:
By our deed as by our birth,
We deserved the law's great curse.
Helpless, hopeless sinners, we
Never can our souls retrieve.

But the blessed Son of God
Came as man, in flesh and blood.
He fulfilled the law's demands,
And in death stretched out His hands-
On the cross of Calvary
Christ redeemed and set us free.
In the time which God had set,

The Spirit came for His elect-
To regenerate and call
From the ruin of the fall.
By His power and by His grace
We were bom for God's own praise.
Now your purpose we fulfill,

Saved according to your will-
Sing this song of joyful praise,
For the glory of your grace.
Blessed, holy, Triune God,
Hear our praise through Christ our Lord.

(Tune: Rock of Ages)
77.77.77.

(51)

GOD OUR FATHER RULES O'ER ALL THINGS

Don Fortner
God our Father rules o'er all things,
And takes care of our affairs:
Our mighty Lord, the King of kings,
Bids us cast on Him our cares.
Wondrous grace, so full of comfort,
Grace to meet our every need!
Jehovah is faith's sweet Resort-
Trusting Him from care we're freed.

Children of the glorious Sov'reign,
Trust His gracious providence,
Bow to God's almighty, just reign,
With implicit confidence.
He will keep you and defend you,
As the apple of His eye:
God will never, never leave you,
He is always by your side.

I will trust, and not be fearful,
Though my path be rough and dark,
For my God is ever faithful:
He secures my weary heart
Every promise must be fulfilled,
Every word from God will stand:
Hush, my troubled heart, now be stilled-
God, my Father's in command!

(Tune: Love Divine)
87.87. Double

(52)

FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE

Don Fortner
Faith is believing God,
Trusting His holy Son,
The gift of His Holy Spirit,
Eternal life begun!
Faith gives the sinner hope
Of heav'n's eternal bliss,
Assurance that I'm born of God,
That I'm forever His!

Faith and hope have brought love
For Jesus Christ my God,
Love for my brothers and sisters,
The family of my God!

(Tune: Blest Be the Tie)
Short Meter 66.86.

(53)

THE TIME IS SHORT

Don Fortner
The time is short'! - Father, teach us
To wisely count our days,
That we may serve Your cause on earth
And best show forth your praise.

"The time is short" - our days are few,
Our labor soon will end:
Our trials and temptations too,
All trouble soon shall end.

"The time is short"- Sinner, be warned!
Waste not another hour:
Oh, flee to Christ the Lord by faith,
And trust His saving power.

"The time is short" - My heart, rejoice!
Our Savior soon shall come:
We soon shall hear our Bridegroom Is voice,
And He will call us home.

(Tune: Must -Jesus Bear the Cross Alone?)
Common Meter 86.86.

(54)

FOR ME

Don Fortner
For me the spotless Lamb agreed
His Father's wrath to bear
For me His precious blood He shed,
My guilty soul to spare.
I see His head, His hands, His feet,
I hear His groans and cries:
For me He bears hell's awful heat,
For me the Surety dies!

For me Christ rose, O blessed day!
In triumph o'er the grave:
He rules all things with sovereign sway,
My helpless soul to save.
A mighty Advocate and Priest,
Christ pleads for me above:
My name is written on His breast,
Inscribed by grace and love.

For me my Savior's blood avails,
Almighty to atone;
The hands He gave to piercing nails
Shall lead me to His throne.
And when I stand before my God,
From sin completely free,
I'll praise Him for His precious blood,
So freely shed for me.

(Tune:It Came upon a Midnight Clear)

(55)

PRAISE GOD FOR GRACE

Don Fortner
Eternal love, electing grace
Secured for me in heav'n a place:
Chosen from all eternity,
The Son of God by blood bought me.

The Spirit came in sov'reign pow'r
At the exact appointed hour,
Revealing Christ, creating faith,
My soul He quickened from its death.

Now I rejoice in sov'reign grace,
My sov'reign God shall have my praise:
Praise God for grace! Praise God for grace!
Sov'reign, eternal, saving grace!

(Tune: Just as I Am)
Meter 88,88.

(56)

THE GOD-MAN, WHO FOR SINNERS DIED

Don Fortner
The God-Man, Who for sinners died
And bore the wrath of God,
Is now enthroned in heaven high,
Triumphant by His blood.
Christ governs everywhere by right,
With wise, unerring skill:
His friends by grace, His foes by might,
Obey His sovereign will.

Angels and spirits now made just
Praise Him in heav'n above;
And ransomed sinners on the earth
Admire His grace and love.
Though tempted, tried and troubled here,
Christ is our Hiding Place:
We flee to our almighty Friend,
Who shelters us with grace.

Christ is our glorious, sovereign King,
Our Savior and our Friend;
His love preserves us in the way,
And crowns us in the end.
Soon we shall join that blood-washed throng,
To sing our Savior's praise,
Cast down our crowns at Jesus' feet
And shout, "We're saved by grace!"

(Tune: My Faith Has Found a Resting Place)
Common Meter Double 86.86.D

(57)

A REBEL'S SURRENDER

Don Fortner
O Lord, a stubborn rebel bows,
Compelled by sovereign grace,
My heart surrenders all to Thee,
Thy Son I now embrace.
My Heart, like flint, before Thy law
Was hard and would not break;
But when in Christ I saw Thy love,
This heart began to ache.

Though Sinai's wrath, like thunder, rolled
And terror seized my soul,
I would not bend my stubborn will
And yield to Thy control.
But mercy has my heart subdued,
Thy grace has broken in:
A bleeding Savior I have seen,
And now I hate my sin.

Now, Lord, I would be Thine alone,
For Thou hast set me free;
Come, take possession of my heart,
I long to live for Thee.
As it has pleased Thee, dearest Lord,
To save a wretch like me,
Come, rule me by Thy sovereign grace,
To serve and honor Thee.

(Tune: My Faith Has Found a Resting Place)

(58)

ELECTING LOVE ADORED

Don Fortner
All glory to the great I AM
Who chose me in the blessed Lamb,
Though millions of this fallen race
Shall never know or taste His grace.

Praise, honor, power and glory be
To Christ, the Lamb of Calvary,
Who gave His life's atoning blood,
And reconciled me to my God.

Praise to the Spirit must be giv'n,
Who frees from sin and leads to heav'n
Chosen, redeemed and called by grace,
To God alone, I give my praise.

(Tune: When I Survey)
Long Meter 88.88.

(59)

HALLELUJAH, CHRIST IS REIGNING!

Don Fortner
The Name of the Lord is our great and high Tow'r
We run to Him trusting His infinite pow'r.

(Refrain)
Hallelujah, Christ is reigning!
Praise Jehovah our God.
Sov'reign Savior, we will praise You:
We trust You our God.

Our Savior, Who died to atone for our sins,
Is exalted on high, and He sovereignly reigns.

Though tempted and tried, we are not in despair.
Our Savior is ruling, so why should we fear?

Yes, Satan may roar, but he cannot devour,
For Jesus has broken the serpents dread pow'r.

God's sov'reign decree and His cov'nant shall stand;
And all who trust Jesus are safe in His hand.

(Tune: Revive Us Again)
11.11. with Refrain

(60)

"RECEIVE NOT THE GRACE OF GOD IN VAIN"

Don Fortner
How blessed we are in this free land
To hear the gospel preached!
How blessed this church of ransomed men,
Whose hearts the light has reached!

The light of truth has made us free
From sin and guilt and fear:
Christ is that Light and all the Truth,
His word we gladly hear.

But many who once had the light,
Are now, in darkness, dead!
The light despised by favored men,
Has from those men now fled.

Be warned, my soul, be warned, my friends,
The gospel is God's gift,
He will remove the gospel's light,
If we despise His gift!

Great God, give us the grace we need
To cherish and obey
The gospel we're so blessed to hear,
And leave us not, we pray.

(Tune: Am I a Soldier of the Cross?)
Common Meter 86.86.

(61)

WORSHIP

Don Fortner
Christ Jesus, dearest Lord,
Our joy and our delight,
Speak to us by Your mighty Word,
And shed on us Your light.

Reveal Your smiling face,
Remove our fears and doubts:
Arise, O Sun of Righteousness,
And scatter all our clouds.

Revive us with Your grace;
Instruct us by Your Word;
Arm us for trials that we must face,
While living in this world.

Lord, we would worship You,
While gathered in this place,
And hope in heav'n to worship You,
Our Savior, face to face.

(Tune: Blest be the Tie)
Short Meter 66.86.

(62)

REDEEMED BY BLOOD AND SAVED BY GRACE

Don Fortner
Rejoice, my heart, my sins are gone!
Christ took them all away:
All of my sins He made His own,
And washed them all away!

(Refrain)
Redeemed by blood and saved by grace,
I am no more my own
My love, my life, my all I give
Savior to You alone.

Awakened by God's sovereign pow'r,
And raised up from the dead,
Christ's blood was sprinkled on my heart,
And condemnation fled!

My path is dark, but Christ is Ligh,
He'll guide me in His way:
Though oft cast down, Christ is my Peace-
He drives my fears away.

I'm weak, I know, but Christ is Strength,
His all-sufficient grace
Keeps and will safely bring me home-
In heav'n I'll see His face!"

(63)

SALVATION! WHAT A BLESSED WORD

Don Fortner
Salvation! What a blessed word!
Good news, most pleasing to our ears,
Redemption by our sov'reign Lord-
Almighty grace dispels our fears.

Salvation, now received by faith,
Was fixed by God's most firm decree
And purchased by Christ Jesus' death,
Who by His Spirit set us free.

Though dead and helpless in our sin
Long at the door of hell we lay,
God raised us up by grace divine,
O happy, glorious, blessed day!

Saved by almighty grace alone,
Saved through the blood of Christ the Lamb,
Washed in the blood, our sins are gone!
Christ frees us from all guilt and blame!

Salvation! Sound the word to all!
Proclaim good news to fallen men!
All who on Christ for mercy call,
Shall be forgiven of their sin!

(Tune: From Every Stormy Wind That Blows)

(64)

FAITH IS THE GIFT OF GRACE ALONE

Don Fortner
Faith is the gift of grace alone,
My God, how can it be,
That You should chose, in saving love,
To give that gift to me?

A fallen, guilty sinner, I
Deserve eternal wrath;
Helpless, I would not come to Christ,
Could not escape my death.

Great God, You sought this sinner out,
You called, and now I live!
You gently forced me to Your Son,
And caused me to believe!

A sinner saved by sovereign grace,
My praise I cannot hold:
Hail, sovereign, free, unchanging grace!
"Salvation's of the Lord!"

(65)

ALMIGHTY GOD, MY STRENGTH AND SHIELD

Don Fortner
Almighty God, my Strength and Shield,
Omnipotent, my King!
His power upholds my feeble frame
And governs everything:
Though I was bom a sinner dead
And wandered far away,
He gave me life by sovereign power
And took my guilt away.

Through my Redeemer's precious blood,
I know the power of God;
For by His blood and saving power,
I am a child of God:
When He appears the tempter flies
And all my fears depart:
He holds me in His mighty hand,
And He secures my heart.

Lord, evermore exert Your power
To guide me in Your way,
Unfil I reach my home above
At Your appointed day:
There I will ever praise the Lamb
For His redeeming blood
With everlasting songs of grace,
Triumphant in my God!

IN CHRIST I NOW BELIEVE

Don Fortner
In Christ I now believe,
I trust His precious blood,
His righteousness by faith receive,
And I'm a child of God.

My sins are blotted out,
I know they are all gone:
God's pardon I can never doubt,
I trust His holy Son.

Complete in Christ I stand
Perfect before my God,
Equal to all the law's demand,
I'm justified with God!

I'm saved by grace alone,
By grace I'm kept secure;
Grace will complete what it's begun,
By grace I shall endure.

When I my race have won
And grace its work completes,
My debt to sovereign grace I'll own
When Christ this sinner greets.

JUST AS CHRIST IS, I AM IN HIM

Don Fortner
Just as Christ is, I am in Him,
Without one spot of guilt or sin:
My sins Christ bore on the cursed tree,
My Surety died, and now I'm free!

Just as Christ is, I am complete,
I am prepared my God to meet:
With Christ's imputed righteousness,
I am as holy as He is.

Just as Christ is, I am an heir,
Adopted as God's son, an heir,
An heir to all God's covenant grace
And heaven's endless happiness.

Just as Christ is, I shall appear
Before God's throne without one fear:
Looking on me in Christ, His Son,
God shall then say, to me, "Well done!"

O HALLELUJAH! NOW I'M FREE

Don Fortner
Though long I walked the rebel's path
And ran from God, a child of wrath,
The Lord in sovereign mercy came
And pardoned all my sin and blame!
Awakened by the Spirit's call
From death incurred by Adam's fall,
God gave me faith! Grace broke my chains!
I trust the Lamb for sinners slain!

I have no righteousness, I know,
By anything that I can do.
But, still, the law gives no distress,
Christ is the Lord my Righteousness!
His righteousness is fully mine,
Imputed by God's wise design,
And with His righteous garments on,
I am as holy as God's Son!

Complete in Christ alone I stand,
Who met for me the law's demands:
When He had brought in righteousness,
Christ died in this poor sinner's place!
Freed from the-law, in Christ I'm free!
Its curses shall not fall on me!
Since Jesus lived and died for me,
O hallelujah! Now I'm free!

PREPARE OUR HEARTS, O LORD

Don Fortner
Prepare our hearts, O Lord,
To hear Your Word proclaimed;
Your servant clothe with mighty pow'r
And magnify Your Name.

Remove all earthly care,
Expose our inmost sin,
And let us see Christ crucified
To cleanse us from all sin.

Inspire our hearts with grace,
With gratitude and love,
That we might live for Christ alone,
And here show forth His love.
For sinners in our midst,
Who yet know not our God,
We seek Your mighty, saving grace,
And pardon through Christ's blood.

Above all else we ask,
That in this place this hour,
Christ might be glorified and praised,
For all His saving pow'r.

CHRIST WILL CROWN US

Don Fortner
Christ will crown us, Christ will crown us
With the glory He has won,
Crown us kings and priests in heaven,
When our days of toil are done.

Christ will crown us, not by merit
From the labors of our hands,
But by His own grace and merit,
Who fulfilled the law's demands.

Then we'll cast our crowns before Him,
Who redeemed us by His blood,
Giving praise, honor, and glory
Only to our saving God.

Not unto us, not unto us,
But unto Your name alone,
Be the glory, Lord, forever,
For everything You have done!
