INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION
Romans 12:1-2

Bill Parker

Nothing will inspire and motivate believers to worship God, persevere in the faith, be diligent in love, good works and obedience, stand firm in defense of the Gospel, and be zealous in witnessing to Gospel to a lost world than the preaching of the Gospel itself. This promise of God to save sinners, bless them, and give them all that salvation includes, from the new birth to final glory in heaven, based on the righteousness of Christ alone is the only message that will encourage and incite believers in all these duties of grace in a way that is pleasing and honoring to God. Without the Gospel these things become meaningless and vague like the salt that has lost its savour. They become no more than dead works without any distinction from the works of the world. Any motive other than the Gospel reduces these efforts to no more than legalism and fruit unto death. Such efforts then become dishonoring to God and a denial of Christ and His righteousness. Let us be diligent to provoke one another unto love and good works, but let our provocation be God's grace as defined in the Gospel of eternal salvation and final glory based on the righteousness of Christ alone!
