When I was a child, I remember seeing small pups chasing after birds which would land on the ground. Neturally they never did succeed, bolt they would keep on trying. Perhaps they were just playing a game. I don't know. But this reminds me of people who pursue the things of this world for happiness and peace. Whether fame or fortune, prestige or power, their appetite is always bigger than their catch. It looks like they would realize after a while that seeking happiness, rest, and peace in the things of this world is like the puppy chasing birds. Augustine once said, "The soul of man will never rest till it comes to rest in Him who made it." Oh, that men and women could see this and quit chasing birds!
