We must never forget that our good standing with God comes to us only because Jesus Christ bore His wrath against us. We are not naturally pleasing to God. Even though His only-begotten "offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears…", God did not spare Him when He was made to be our sin. He loved us, so He sent the Son, but let us never forget that He loves us only because of the Son. God didn't just bless you; God didn't just bless Abraham; God blessed us IN CHRIST. (Eph 1:3-4) "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world…" We haven't received a single blessing because of anything we've done in this lifetime. All of God's blessings come to us according as He chose us in Christ. In Christ, He found a perfect Man that could make us holy and without blame before Him. In love, He "predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself…". We ran so far astray from God that we lost our sonship in Adam and killed the Only Begotten Son. Yet, according to the "praise of the glory of his grace… he hath made us accepted in the beloved (vs6)." Our acceptance in the Beloved Son is the praise of the glory of God's grace because it delivers us from condemnation to perfect holiness entirely through the worthiness/acceptance of Another. The riches of God's grace is that our acceptance in the Beloved comes through the DEATH of His Son. "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace (vs7)." Justice has been fully satisfied for the elect of God, and now our redemption unto God and adoption into the standing of Jesus Christ is completely according to every dictate of His eternal holiness.
